It was revealed during The CW’s Superhero Hour panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour that a musical crossover between Supergirl and The Flash is FINALLY happening! This news broke during the same panel that also revealed that Sharon Leal will be playing Miss Martian in Season 2 as well as what mystery DC character Chris Wood is playing and that Kevin Smith will be directing an episode this season. Greg Berlanti, the show-runner of all the CW DCTV shows, said the following to TV Insider about the musical crossover which will most likely be episodes 13 or 14 of both shows.
“Yes, there will be a musical crossover. There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year with Supergirl and The Flash. We’re trying to write at least one original song per episode. My sense is we’ll be very careful about how it is they kind of break into song. There’ll probably be an element of being in some character or characters’ head at the time just so we’re sort of being delicate in terms of how we navigate those waters but it’s many episodes away.”
“Now, in Season Two, Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.”
Supergirl Season 2 begins on Monday, October 10 at 8/7c at its new home, The CW.
