Supergirl fans got a huge announcement for Season 2 about a week ago, as it was revealed that Kara’s cousin, Superman, would finally be coming to the small screen on his cousin’s TV show for the first two episodes of the new season:
“The iconic character of Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season”
Andrew Kreisberg (show-runner and executive producer of Supergirl and the other DC TV shows on The CW) shared his excitement about bringing Superman to the show:
“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
Everyone has been speculating and throwing out dream casting ideas for who should be cast as the next Man of Steel for the DC TV Universe. The wait is finally over as it was announced today by Warner Bros. TV and The CW that Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin will be portraying Clark Kent/Kal-El, a.k.a. the Last Son of Krypton.
In an official statement to the press, Kreisberg shared his excitement to work with Hoechlin as Superman.
“Greg and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Supergirl Season 2 will be taking place on its new home on The CW this fall on Monday nights at 8/7c.
