Leslie wrote in to share some thoughts about the Season Four episode titled “Ahimsa”.
Supergirl and Siberian Supergirl both live!
Ahisma was a thoroughly enjoyable episode. This episode was a return to the old format with Supergirl and the team being successful by the end of the episode.
The scenes between Alex and J’onn, J’onn and Manchester Black, and Lena and Brainy were great! It was so nice to hear J’onn reference saving Kara as a “family” emergency. Brainy’s tearing up in front of Lena made him endearing to me as a character who I should care about. He seems to be very fond of Kara/Supergirl and Alex. We got a Danvers’ sister couch scene with them eating pie!
I also liked the parallel between Brainy’s and J’onn’s storylines in that they were both realistically having difficulty concentrating on the task at hand because they were understandably distraught over Kara/Supergirl’s condition.
I loved seeing the Hellgrammite again and that he unexpectedly helped the DEO take down Mercy and Otis. I like those two villains, especially Otis. Otis is comic relief. Who knew he knew what a metaphor was!
Agent Liberty also reminds me of Amon on Legend of Korra, which was a great animated series with an impetuous female superhero with a big heart and other strong female characters.
When did Agent Liberty become a scientific genius? At times, he appeared to be acting like he was insane. He was lucid enough to exact a measure of revenge against James by calling him Guardian of Liberty. James’ actions as Guardian were ill-advised and ill-fated. He should have listened to Nia. I also don’t understand why the DEO doesn’t just make James a DEO agent/informant and therefore, immune from state prosecution. I also think that Guardian’s antics will pale in comparison to what Manchester Black is planning.
I love Alex, but she was all over the place in this episode. I think Alex needs to get Pam from HR to clean house at the DEO.
Question: Why did the President order Supergirl to remain in the DEO, unless he is secretly aiding and abetting Mercy and Otis? I still don’t trust him. Also, why would traitor Agent Jensen want to become a parasite? I guess Supergirl didn’t kill Parasite after all.
