One of the things that many Supergirl and Smallville fans have been wanting to see is Laura Vandervoort, TV’s first Girl of Steel, show up on the new CBS series for an appearance or two, but due to Vandervoort’s busy schedule with the SyFy show Bitten, it hasn’t been easy to get schedules to come together – until today.
It was announced at the Supergirl panel that took place during TCA Winter Press Tour today that Smallville’s Vandervoort is coming to CBS’ Supergirl in the recurring role of DC Comics’ Indigo! Here is how the show describes the TV show’s take on the character when she makes her debut in episode 15:
“A living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.”
Supergirl show-runner Andrew Kreisberg also told this to TVLine about Vandervoort’s appearance on Supergirl:
“Indigo looks badass. She’s going to look awesome. And she definitely won’t look just like Laura. … Being one aspect of the Brainiac program, she comes in through computers, so Winn is actively involved in that episode. She was one of the Fort Rozz prisoners, so how she got there and what she’s been doing on Earth is part of the surprise of the episode.”
With Vandervoort coming to Supergirl, it’s finally official: all the actors to have played Kara Zor-El in live-action, have now appeared/will appear on Supergirl! They also announced that Jeff Branson will be coming in as the DC baddie Mister Jailer who will also be recurring and is described as:
“As the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz, Master Jailer showed no mercy. Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice.”
Are you excited about Vandervoort finally showing up on Supergirl? Looking forward to see what trouble Mister Jailer will cause? Let us know in the comments below and remember to tune in for Supergirl next week when it returns on Monday January 18, 8/7c on CBS!
Excited to see her appear and then for all three to appear in one episode.
Such a great time to be alive where these actors can embrace their former roles rather than be ashamed of them. Today it’s a badge of honor and the lifelong love of the fans is desired rather than resented. Lets magic like this happen!
