ET Online just broke the news that Italia Ricci has been cast in a major DC Comics role on CBS’ Supergirl as she will be playing the villainous Silver Banshee who is part of Supergirl and Superman’s Rogues gallery in the comic books. She will make her debut in the 14th episode of the series, which should be either in February or March. Here is how Warner Bros. TV described Supergirl’s version of Silver Banshee:
“Ricci will play Siobhan Smythe, Cat Grant’s latest hire at CatCo, who at first becomes a work nemesis for Kara but proves a more deadly foe for Supergirl when she becomes DC villain Silver Banshee.”
Executive producer and show-runner Andrew Kreisberg said this in a statement to ET Online about the casting of Ricci:
“We are so excited to be working with Italia. We’ve been a fan of her work for years and we cannot wait to see her take on this iconic comic book role”.
This will be the second time that Silver Banshee has been in a live-action series as the character made her live-action debut in the 9th season of the CW/WB series Smallville.
Supergirl airs on Monday nights, 8/7c on CBS.
