Kara’s opening monologue tells the iconic story of her travels from Krypton to Earth. It mimics an important part of our culture, the same trip that Superman himself makes. Unfortunately the two characters split off which leaves a major age gap between the two heroes. Fast forward to Supergirl and the world learns that we might get to see more of Superman then just a few over the shoulder shots. We’ll be going back into the past to get a look at Superman, specifically superman age 13.
TVLine.com has reported that CBS is looking to cast a rookie man of steel for the famous future superhero with “future leading man good looks” At 13, it’s believed that the show will explore his relationship with Kara through flashbacks. The future Man of Steel is scheduled to appear in episode 13 which will explain the “established bond” between the two heroes.
While critics have been skeptical about including more Superman characters rather then Supergirl characters in the show this could be an excellent opportunity to showcase the continued bond of family that makes the Kryptonians so special. The opportunity to see flashbacks of their relationship could also open up new story lines or be used to introduce new characters who could make a future appearance. Could we see more of Krypton? Further tragedy or excitement? Flashback episodes traditionally indicate a potential for tragedy or danger in the present, could this mean trouble ahead for both Kryptonians? With a full season order the possibilities are endless, this is a fantastic opportunity for the show. Share your feelings about “Super Boy” and future man of steel and how it could affect Kara below!
