Abby wrote in with some thoughts on the Supergirl season four episode titled “Rather the Fallen Angel”!

While I believe that “Rather the Fallen Angel” was a strong episode, and I loved all the Lena and Adam scenes, I was disappointed yet again because I was questioning whether the writers were pushing a political agenda. The political statements this episode being “tearing statues down, and immigration”. While I am not in expert in law, it was a part of my college degree, so it is frustrating when once again, I see our heroes disregarding the law. A few episodes back, we had Jonn and Kara sneak into Elizabeth’s house, searching for the missing amulet. This also happened last season, when they captured Julia, the Worldkiller. In this episode, Kara and Manchester go to a shipping yard (is that private property?) and then open the shipping container without a warrant. Deep down, they know that they shouldn’t be doing this because they got caught! I know this show isn’t the real world, and it’s only television, but if they are going to try so hard to fit a political agenda, it would be nice of them to look at common legal policies as well.

Also, where was Colonel Haley in this episode? She has been trying to crack down on Supergirl’s authority and performances so I don’t think she would be happy to find Supergirl working with Manchester Black without any approval. Wouldn’t it be some breach of a confidentially clause/contract that Supergirl is sharing DEO information with Manchester Black?

Back to my favorite part of the episode: Lena and Adam! Those scenes pulled at my heart and it was great to see both of them struggle and help each other. The line from Adam seeing that “under all that ice, there is a heart” was great. When Adam said, “Please let me do something good”, I immediately thought of last season when Lena drunkenly said, “All I ever wanted to be was good”. There was also the hero talk, especially, “She was the only hero I ever had”. On Twitter, there were debates on whether it was Supergirl, Kara, Sam, her biological mom, and even Lillian! That being said, I swore that Lena was talking about Kara because how can anyone forget the famous “Supergirl may of saved me, but Kara Danvers, you are my hero” line? Could this add to the theory of Lena knowing that Kara is Supergirl? Since episode two, with the confrontation with Mercy, we haven’t had any scenes with just Kara and Lena alone. This could also tie-in with Kara talking about Manchester Black saying, “I guess people only show you what they want you to see”. This is funny coming from someone who has a secret identity.
