Supergirl won’t just be adding the Man of Steel himself, Superman, but she will also be joined by five new faces in the second season this fall. TV Line is reporting that 5 new characters are being cast for Season 2 for the Girl of Steel, with 2 of them being series regulars and the other 3 being recurring guest stars.
First up, is a new female series regular whose last name will raise some big eye brows if you are a huge Superman/DC Comics fan: Lena Luthor, the little sister of Kal-El’s nemesis, Lex Luthor.
“25-35 year old range, arrives in town to get out from under the shadow of her infamous brother. She’s described as sexy and smart and determined to get what she wants. But what does she want? That remains unclear.”
Next up is Nick Farrow, a brand new character created for the series who is described as followed:
“A brash leading man who butts heads with Kara at CatCo. The son of a famous reporter, Nick is looking to make a name for himself in the news world but the question of whether he can leave behind his former selfish and hedonistic ways will constantly arise. In hanging out with Kara, the hero in Nick might finally come out.”
Then we have the three recurring guest players: The Doctor, who is described as “the diabolical female leader of Project Cadmus who uses her surgical skills to implant prisoners with alien technology” and TV Line interestingly enough brings up “Sterling Roquette” as a suggestion of who the character could possibly be.
We got a DC name, the character of Snapper Carr, described as “a veteran journalist appointed by Cat to remake the news division by going old school” and they specifically point out that he is to not to be confused with the Justice League sidekick.
Last, but not the least, we got Maggie Sawyer, a player from the Superman mythos, who is “an out and proud detective for the newly formed Science Police, which deals specifically with metahuman and alien threats.”
Supergirl Season 2 will be taking place on its new home on The CW this fall on Monday nights at 8/7c.
